Welcome To The World

Welcome to the world

Welcome to the World

Welcome to the world to our beautiful girl! I suppose since my daughter is now 12 weeks old, I should give her a proper introduction. I’ll also share my top 10 things I love about being a mom.

P came in to the world with her daddy standing by, and one set of grandparents waiting in the wings to visit. It lacked the fanfare of the recent Royal Baby’s birth– can’t imagine why! 😉 It was a perfect moment and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be a mom.

P was born after a long exhausting labor. I’m not one of those lucky moms who sneezes and out pops a baby. She took her sweet time, with her head turned and her hand up by her face… but she finally got unstuck. And when she came out, all was right with the world for this mama.

I have truly enjoyed motherhood. It really knocked me flat though for a few weeks there. I couldn’t believe how physically wiped I was. I could not have imagined that part of it. Luckily we had family around to not only welcome to the world our little daughter but to cook, do laundry, and walk the dog. I am so thankful for that. I know that not everyone can have family nearby, and not everyone wants family nearby. But for me it was a life saver.

Here are my current top 10 things I love about being a mom:

(In no particular order)

1. Getting to hold and snuggle my precious little P

2. Listening to her cute noises– now cooing and gurgling like a champ!

3. Sharing the experience with family, especially my mom. It’s been such a fun bonding experience for us!

4. Watching my husband be a father. He is a champ and he’s so in love with her, it’s adorable.

5. Breastfeeding. I didn’t know what to expect or how it would go. P is a great eater, no issues latching and just chomped away.  Phew! It hurt for a few weeks but after that was smooth sailing.

6. A new appreciation for my parents. Wow. They have done a lot for me and are still so loving and generous.

7. Being home. I am so thankful I don’t have the pressure of going back to work. I’m loving being a stay-at-home-mom and spending time with my daughter

8. The pace. Life is much slower and it’s nice to stop and smell the roses.

9. SO many CUTE clothes and baby items! It’s a blast to pick out little outfits and see all the pint-sized clothes for baby that people have generously given us (and that I’ve bought… I just can’t resist!).

10. Every single new development and milestone she achieves. I looked back at a video from a month ago, and all she was doing was flapping her arms. It seems so silly now but at the time it was so amazing! It’s fun to cheer her on as she bats her hanging toys and struggles through tummy time.

I am so blessed to be a mom. It was a long wait and I am so thankful that God was gracious to bring our little sweet pea into this world.
