Infertility Military Style: You Are Not Alone

I’m amazed at how many women and couples are currently struggling with infertility. Infertility is something my husband and I dealt with for a few years. Not being able to conceive can be a lonely, discouraging journey. Struggling with infertility military style, with the many added challenges of military life, is sometimes beyond frustrating.

I’d been thinking for a while about sharing my infertility military journey. I even had a word doc partially started, and finally got back to it. But it’s sometimes hard to go there and feel ok about putting my story out for the world to read. I don’t mind talking about it, but there’s something about putting it in writing that’s kind of scary.

And sometimes I feel like now that I do have a child, people won’t want to hear from me because I’m on the “other side.” So many people haven’t received the blessing they’ve been hoping and praying every night for. And there’s really no earthly reason I ended up pregnant while others haven’t yet.

Hope Out Of Hardship

But I do believe that God allows us to go through things in order that we could encourage those who encounter similar struggles down the road. Even though some have been waiting and trying much longer than we had to wait, I hope that my story could help at least one person along the way.

I’m planning to write a few different posts about my struggles, the path we took, and some strategies we used to help my body get pregnant. I’ll touch on the medical side including surgeries and insurance problems. I’ll share about some natural health steps I took, and also my fitness and activity level during it all. I’ll talk about my miscarriage, and the frustration of having to wait through a deployment to even try.

If you’re struggling with infertility military or not, you are not alone. It can feel like it sometimes. Every month that goes by, every cycle that starts, it feels like your heart is breaking. I know the feeling.

Know that the Lord is with you in the disappointment of it all. We don’t know why He’s allowing it to be this way for now. There is always hope, and even if it feels like wasted time, with God no time is ever wasted. He can work all things for good.

Stay tuned and I’ll talk with you soon.

Much love,
Heather
