It’s Good To Be Home: 6 Reasons To Appreciate Where You Are Stationed

Hi there.

A while back I posted about why it’s great to travel as a military wife. Today I’ve just gotten home from a trip, and I know some of you won’t be able to get away in the near future. So I’m going to give you a few reasons why it’s good to be home.

That way, maybe you can live vicariously through me, and when you walk through your garage door (who uses the front door?), you can feel what I’m feeling: I am SO happy to be home!

Beautiful Scenery:

Even though it can be very gloomy and gray where we’re stationed, it is glorious on a sunny day. Today driving home from the airport the sun was out, patchy clouds floated along and I even needed my sunglasses. The colors of fall were in full array.

I just came from Arizona, which has a different kind of beauty. But Fall in the Pacific Northwest is amazing. A nice way to be welcomed. It’s good to be home.

Home Is Familiar:

I love home because I can be myself. I can be messy or I can be clean. I can come in and dump my stuff anywhere and leave it to deal with tomorrow. It just feels nice. I get to sleep in my own bed. And I can put P on the floor and not worry about how many people have done who knows what there!

Being Reunited With Loved Ones:

In this case, my dog. My neighbors watched her for me, so I didn’t have to wait to pick her up from the kennel. Actually at this moment she is panting and looking at me like, “Uh, so when are we going to play???” When I walked in the door she did a cute little jump and then put her paws on me and licked me. Ahhhh. She missed me. =)

Getting Back Into The Routine:

As much fun as travel can be, I am somewhat of a routine person. I like to be able to accomplish things around home and get back into rhythm. And actually, I picked up some fun ideas of things to cook and make around here so I’ll have to share them as I go.

AND since I reorganized my pantry, I now have my cookbooks in a good spot where I’ll see them every day. Now that I’m home, I’m hoping the new location inspires me to actually open them and use them!

Seeing Friends:

Life is really dull without friends. I am looking forward to seeing my Bible study girls and military wife friends, having lunch dates with people and visiting my friend who just had twins! I gotta meet those little guys. Also, I’ve been hosting a playgroup off and on this fall and I’m looking forward to that this week as well.

Sometimes you don’t appreciate who you have around you until you are gone for a while! It’s good to be home.

I’m A Whole Five Days Closer To Homecoming!

Probably my top reason for being so glad to be home is that it means another week has gone by. I had a great trip, and I got to see my parents and enjoy the sun. But getting home means clock is ticking towards homecoming!

Before I left, I set my little block calendar  to today’s date. It was fun to walk in the door and see that so much time had gone by. Sometimes you just need to feel like time is actually moving instead of feeling like it is standing still!

Well, I hope some of these things have reminded you why home is so great. Trips are great, but home is really great. I think I say great a lot. =)

I hope you have a fabulous week! Let me know in the comments below why you think home is great too!

love,

Heather
