16 Cheap Care Package Ideas That Fit In A Large Envelope

by Heather Goffrier

When hubby is deployed, you don’t need to spend a ton of $$$ to mail off your gift. Instead, use these cheap care package ideas and send them in a large envelope. Envelopes are much cheaper to send and less expensive to fill too. Your deployed sailor will be stoked to open that envelope and see the goodies you put inside!

Remember, pretty much anything flat, thin and not hazardous is a potential for the package. Here are my 16 cheap care package ideas that you can fit in a large envelope:

1- Pictures

2- CDs

3- DVDs

4- Hand written notes

5- Drawings from the kids

6- Drawings made by you

7- A sign- store-bought, or homemade with special inside jokes

8- Use Publisher or a similar program to create a newsletter with funny articles he’ll like. All family members could have a column, even the dog!

9- Make paper frames for pictures with scrapbook paper

10- Stickers

11- Gum

12- Gift card

13- Coupons for topics during phone conversations

14- Phone cards

15- Report cards to brag on the kids’ grades

16- Menus from your favorite new restaurant for them to check out. They’ll look forward to going with you!

Bonus tip— Place a very thin piece of cardboard in the envelope to help keep it flat!
Extra bonus tip— Decorate the outside (drawing/coloring) or put a smaller envelope inside a larger envelope and decorate smaller one. =)

My family members always enjoyed receiving any patriotic apparel along with a hand written note. This was something simple that they used and the added hand written gesture reminded them of home.

That’s a great idea Dean! And that could possibly fit into a flat rate envelope too. =) Thanks for sharing!
